Some teens are eager to take the lead; others need encouragement and time to realize how to maximize their leadership style. These learning opportunities provide a wonderful foundation for expanding girls’ knowledge, skills and confidence.

Government in Action Day

Category: Teen Leadership and Responsibility Development
Visit the Statehouse for a tour and learning about how our government works. Follow a legislative bill from start to finish while experiencing legislative protocol, procedure, and advocacy. What do elected officials do? Are there career opportunities here? Investigate why it took this long to elect a woman Senator in our state.


This event is a building block for girls who are interested in participating in the South Carolina Honorary Legislative Page Program.

•Lunch will be provided.
•A letter for your absence from school can be supplied if needed.
•Cost:
-Girls:
$20 until August 31; then $22 beginning September 1;
-Adults: $8
